Abstract

This study designs and implements a rule-based expert system prototype application aimed at customizing the learning of elementary self-defense techniques in schools. Using a knowledge base that incorporates literature and instructor input, the system recommends techniques based on the students' skill levels, physical conditions, and learning preferences. Simulations on imaginary student data show the system gives relevant recommendations but needs both a bigger knowledge base and a better inference algorithm. Although the prototype shows promise in terms of motivation and reasoning, further testing on real students and incorporation of technologies such as motion sensors are suggested for achieving better accuracy and feedback.
