Abstract

This study aims to explore the negative impact of using abusive language in daily communication among university students, focusing on self-image and social interaction. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through a questionnaire involving 30 student respondents at Insan Budi Utomo University. The results showed that the use of abusive language can damage social relationships, create emotional distance, and trigger conflict. In addition, abusive language has the potential to harm an individual's reputation and create an unhealthy work atmosphere. In terms of mental health, the use of abusive language can increase stress and anxiety, and normalize harmful behaviors among adolescents. This study emphasizes the importance of awareness of the negative impact of abusive language and the need for more polite communication to create a more harmonious social and academic environment.
