Abstract

This study examines the application of the Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) in analyzing the crises faced by mayoral candidates in the Pemalang City election. The research aims to identify crisis types, appropriate communication strategies, and public perceptions of the candidates’ responses. The SCCT framework categorizes crises as stemming from individual misconduct, leadership challenges, or lack of credibility. Results indicate tailored crisis responses are essential to mitigate negative public perception and rebuild trust. The study contributes to political crisis management literature, offering practical insights for candidates navigating public relations challenges.
